Near perfect as far as I'm concerned.

5/5. This game is near perfect as far as I'm concerned. It has a similar layout to the many Geometry Wars clones out there, but it has an inventory of weapons and ammo, and it has small obstacles and boss battles. The different enemies were nice, but I couldn't help but feel the menu design was lacking style. Also, I didn't really like the border. Seeing that made it seem too much like a Geometry Wars hack, even if it wasn't. Oh, and I didn't like that the game prevented me from picking up certain weapons because I wasn't on a specific website. The weapons shouldn't have appeared if I can't use them.

Freaky.

My only complaint is there's too much reading. I didn't get any further than the three keypads, because I didn't read much of anything. Other than that, this is an excellent adventure game. It puts most to shame, really.

Fair enough, I will cut down on the text in the next one but there is still a lot of things to tell...

Decent soundboard...

...but it's like all the soundboards I've seen in the past. They're extremely easy to make, and they're made easier by the source files and the tutorials available all over the internet, just like your average dress-up game.

Now, if you want to go further, you could design a 'real' soundboard, something useful to musicians or sound designers. I always thought a Flash-powered music maker would be kind of neat. It's very possible, and it would be very useful to some people.

Art is great, game is fun.

It could use more action, but other than that, great game. I quit after a while because it became quite repetitive to just jump around in the forest. I think more enemies would make it a lot more bearable. I didn't play long enough to get to the boss, though.

Great artwork, though! Very nice world, not even sure if it's tiles or art-based. I think the challenge level of it is a bit too low, so you might want to make the hidden areas harder to reach. Not much harder, just a bit. Other than the lack of action or challenge, this is a brilliant platformer. Make more!

I played this a while ago.

It's rather old, isn't it? Well, it's nice to see it on NG, but I think you should make something more original, instead of basing your game on an existing franchise. You could easily make money from such work!

Now, the level designer...
...how do you unlock it?

Runouw responds:

The Level Designer requires 5 Star Coins to unlock.

This should be one of the last IP based projects I work on for a while, btw...

Great but a bit too demanding.

It's a 2d game that freezes or slows down my browser (Firefox 3), but other than that, it's a great game, and I enjoyed it. It's not original, but few things are.

The step-on switches are glitchy!

The previous Shift games are much better, and the "squid attack" thing is just too random for me. The switch to turn the lock requires you to step on it, but it always moves twice, making the switch pointless. I got stuck there, because jumping and shifting didn't help.

The controls are a bit odd to me, but they were easily figured out, because I already placed previous Shift games. You really should explain the controls in the beginning, even if you already did in previous games. At least, provide a pause option that shows a controls configuration.

Many flaws. I'll point a few out.

1. People don't want to play a game to copy code. They probably don't want to play a game to learn how to code, either.

2. This is AS2, make sure people know this. AS3 code is a lot different and has to be approached differently. AS1 code would also have to be dumbed down a bit, but most of your code would still work, thankfully.

3. I could not find the source code for your tutorial game. Source code is essential in the learning process, even if you already explain all the building block code and include bits and pieces of useful code, the 'player' still needs to understand best practices and how all the code fits together.

4. A lot of that filler space could be used to give players more info, Flash tips or even just links to other helpful tutorials. Instead, it just has random "EXTRAS" text and obtainable item objects. Maybe you could expand on that, though, and make a tutorial for inventories.

Aw, that's awesome.

My only problem with it is that it's too easy. Make your games harder.
Oh, and does this game take advantage of the highscores system provided by MochiAds? I couldn't tell, because I couldn't die.

almost a decent toy

I like toy games and sandbox games more than anything else, but this is just too simple. It's not even really set up for a good 2-player moment, let alone multiplayer. It should be called "almost 2-player space game prototype."

I enjoy making games and playing them. I enjoyed playing Runescape about seven years ago. It got old and I got better things to do. Beyond that, you only really need to know that I created a bunch of stuff under the alias, Jammer-Lammy. GetLives.com/JAM
